Ted, your rubric is very thorough and I think it demonstrates the fact that you are already a teacher in practice. I feel that I could watch the students' presentations and grade it easily having just read the rubric.
ReplyDeleteHowever, I would suggest perhaps making your rubric a little bit more concise. I think that there are a few too many criteria that could be condensed into one. For example, your criteria "relevant images" and "no more than 4 words per bullet and 4 bullets per slide" could be condensed to a category called "Presentation Design" or something similar. Then, the expectations that you have about how the presentation looks could outlined in the description, but wouldn't necessarily be categories on their own. I think that this would help the rubric to feel more manageable when your students look at it, or when you or another educator want to use it.
One other question that I had was why you chose to not have a "0" quality level? Is the intention that if a student participates in the assignment, they will at least receive a "1" in the category? If that is the case, is it possible for a student to get a 0 for one criterion but get a different score on a separate criterion? For example, I would think that a student who has a bibliography that is improperly formatted would certainly receive a "1", but would a student who has no bibliography also receive a "1" or would you give them a zero for that portion?
